Ashley & Tim | Engaged | Hartford, WI Photographer

Fall in Wisconsin is one of the most beautiful times in the year.
I LOVE fall...the colors and weather are amazing (well, ok the weather is not always so amazing...).
I have been SO excited for this engagement session, not only because I got to hang out with Ashley and Tim for a couple hours but also because they chose to have their photos taken at Pike Lake State Park near Hartford.
If you ever have the chance to go...do it! Especially in the fall
....ohmygoodness....
the colors are AMAZING. And we weren't there at the peak of fall! I bet the colors are even more vibrant now :D
I got there before Ashley & Tim so that I could look around and find some neat spots along a few of the trails that are in the park. There are a number of different trails that go along the lake and into the woods. There is even a tower...but we didn't make it that far...it was like a 4 mile hike. Here are a few photos I took while I was waiting:

trails galore!

and preeeeettyyyy flowers :)

and water

Ok, now that we all know I <3 fall....on to Ashely & Tim :)

These two were fabulous to work with...I love it when clients are willing to climb on things, sit on other things and be goofy with eachother. It makes my job sooooo easy :D

seeeeeee what I mean :D:D love the little hop Tim ;)

Amanda & AJ | Engagement | Kohler Photographer

Friends. Family. Outdoors. Love.
Pretty much the four words that I would describe Amanda and AJ with. Family & friends are among the most important things in their life. They both love the outdoors...AJ especially, he loves to hunt and fish! And you can see the love for each other in their eyes. I just love the smile that AJ has in some of their photos...it's one of those that just says love with out even saying it. Ahhh....makes me so happy :) They are easy going and willing to try anything I asked. Shooting their engagement photos was an absolute blast! I love being able to try new things and shoot in new places! Check out some of their photos!

They brought with their lab Shadow for some of the photos! Love the matching outfits!! :D

This one makes me smile :)

Love those eyes.

probably one of my favorites!

We stayed in Kohler for the entire shoot! We started at Wood Lake, headed over to the park by the school, and a couple other places in town. I was very happy to stumble upon the corn field because...well, I love the way a the corn adds a different element to the photos. And...come on...this is Wisconsin...I would totally want photos in a corn field too! (on a side note...we did have some of our photos taken in a corn field as well ;) )

Amanda and AJ, thank you so much for spend a couple hours with me, letting me take your photos, and let me get to know you a little better! I can't wait to be a part of your wedding!! :)

Getting to Know Me | Sheboygan County Wedding Photographer

I spend a lot of time reading other people's blogs. Getting to know all of these other people through their writing, photos and other things. So I figured it was time for me to have a little "get to know you" deal of my own :) So...while reading on a bunch of different blogs...which more or less went like this.... click on blog, read blog, check out the comments because it was an interesting post, click on a commenter, ooohh cool this person has a blog, lets read it, hmm ok kinda boring...comments...neat, click, next blog. and so on. So anyway...like 30 blogs away from where I started from (side note...does EVERYONE have a blog these days?!?!) I found '30 questions about me' or something like that. 11. a recent photo taken of you
  12. something that you are OCD about
  13. favorite fictional book
  14. favorite non-fictional book
  15. what is your dream house
  16. a song that makes you cry
  17. a favorite art piece
  18. your wedding
  19. a talent that you have
  20. a favorite hobby
  21. a favorite recipe
  22. favorite website

Jenna & Jim | Engaged | Sheboygan Engagement Photographer

Hello again my friends :) Thank you all for the birthday wishes! It was a fantastic day!

Like I said in my last post, I had an engagement session with Jenna and Jim two weekends ago. These two are the cutest couple. SOOO much fun to be with! We had a great time laughing, chatting and getting some great photos. I just want to make one thing clear...these two rocked the camera! So many clients tell me that they don't know what to do or that they are camera shy. Every couple that I have ever photographed has rocked the camera. Maybe they are all trying to cover up how awesome they all are ;) Anyway, these two rocked the camera at a few different locations around Sheboygan. Jenna and I graduated high school together, so it was awesome to be able to catch up and meet her beau :)

First we started out at the John Micheal Kohler Art Center

We walked all the way around the outside of the building finding different little spots. I really love the old doors on the house that is part of the museum.

There is also a little patio with chairs and tables...

Then there is the brick wall that has some kind of viney-thing growing all over it (yea, yea...I know there is a name for it...buuuuutttt I do not have green thumb for growing anything but algea in the fish tank! haha!) this one is one of my faaaaaaavvvvvvvorites :D:D

There is also a nice little grassy field at the JMKAC for photos like this....

and this....

aren't the cute?!?!?

Then we moved on to the Library. Where we found the fountain to be filled with water. The last time I was here was with Dani & JT and the fountain was empty. I'm not sure if I like the fountain full or empty. hmm...either way I enjoy it!

We also headed down to the lake. And, for all of you who aren't familiar with Sheboygan....I am referring to Lake Michigan. We are lucky enough to live close enough a lake with some rather awesome views.

and Jenna and Jim aren't bad looking either ;)

ahhhhhh-dorable! I couldn't have asked for a better day or better company!

Thank you Jenna & Jim!!!

Happy Birthday... | Personal |Sheboygan Photographer

to ME!!!! :D:D:D:D

yes, that is correct. It is..well, was my birthday. Wednesday I celebrated the big 2-5. Which is supposed to be some kind of milestone right?!? Well, I am not sure what kind of milestone it is, other than the fact that I am now in the quarter-century club. haha. Oh, and my car insurance will go down....right? Well...the car insurance thing is wrong cause mine went up. *sigh* oh well.

This was a pretty important birthday for me though because this is my LAST birthday as an Olson. Next year at this time I will be celebrating with a new last name AND with a husband :) It is really a bittersweet time for me. Although I am super excited to be marrying my best friend (in 9 short months by the way), I am a little sad to retire my current last name for my new one.

I have decided that I want to learn to play the guitar :D (and no its not JUST because I saw the Paramore concert on Saturday...which was AMAZING!) I have wanted a guitar for a while now...so maybe I will put an acoustic guitar on my christmas list :D or just buy one. either way...I want one. haha. I just have to find the right one. So I may be taking a trip to the music store in the near future.

As for wedding planning, things are coming along well. We have our location, photographer, dj, pastor, bridesmaid dresses, colors and most of the paper picked out and purchased. Sometimes I think it is a little crazy (and expensive) that this much planning goes into ONE DAY. Well, ok, really it will be like 3 once you include the rehearsal, wedding day, and gift opening.

Coming up soon on the blog is a fabulous engagement session that I did with an old high school friend and her fiance! :D So excited for this preview!

This is Jenna & Jim :)

So much fun & so much love :D

Enjoy your weekend!!

Maggie & DJ | Engagement Session

Last weekend I was able to head up to River Falls where I went to college. I met up with my good friend Maggie and her fiance DJ for some engagement photos! It was SOOO much fun! Despite the FREEEEEEEEZZZZZIIIINNNNNGGGGG cold. Burrr. It makes me cold just thinking about it. Seriously...we were not prepared for it to be like 35 out. But, these two were troopers through the whole thing! They are soooo cute together. I had a hard time picking out my favorites....soooo here are a bunch :) enjoy!!

First we started out the morning in Hudson by the St. Croix river

They were cold. Really cold. But they have great smiles!

We found this cute little ampitheater in Hudson...photo op!

Give me your best straight face....hehehe...we couldn't stop giggling!

Love it

Bond. James Bond.

Next we ventured into Stillwater...to the reception site.
I am SOOO pumped for this reception.
By far...coolest venue for any wedding I have been to.
Can't. Wait.

So. In. Love.
This one is probably my favorite.

We went to some train tracks after the venue.
I love train tracks. haha.

To see more photos from Maggie and DJ's engagement session look under Photos - Wedding and Engagements. You'll find the link there!

Thanks Maggie and DJ for being such troopers in the cold!! I am so happy for you two to start your life together!!
