Foto Friday | Sheboygan Wedding & Portrait Photographer

yesterday was friday.
today is saturday.
so maybe this should have been called foto saturday.
nah...not as good of a ring to it as foto friday :)
I am patiently waiting for spring to get here. it snowed a couple days ago.
yes. snow. in late March.
helllloooooo wisconsin spring time.
its the time of year when you go to work with your heater on and come home with the air conditioning on.
or something along those lines :)

anyway I decided to put up a photo from last fall...because I really can't wait for spring to come so that all the pretty flowers come up out of the ground :D
they make much better backdrops than snow...I mean I like snow because it adds something different into the mix. but it gets boring quick. and is kinda gross when its in the half-melted-showing-all-the-nasty-dirt stage. yuk. spring, summer and fall offer WAY more colors :D

so here's to spring being right around the corner!
(even though as I look outside now....it is...of course...snowing. again. sigh)

happy weekend!

Foto Friday & more afternoon ramblings | Sheboygan Wedding & Portrait Photographer

"baby you're a firework,
come on, show 'em what your worth,
make 'em go oh oh oh,
as you shoot across the sky"
katy perry / firework

as I sit here listening to music, writing this blog, thinking about the pile of things to do, pondering what photo I'm going to post for foto friday, and realize that...geez it really is friday. hm. this week was crazy. certainly in a good way. but crazy busy. it seems weird to not have somewhere to go tonight. everyday this week we have had something to do or someone coming over. don't get me wrong, I like to be busy. and I like even more to cross things off the wedding to-do-list (that really seems to get longer when I cross things off). I also like being able to sit and veg.
for a minute anyway. because my to-do list is far to long to sit still for long.

since I got home from work today I have:
bathed the dog
cleaned the bathroom
(because we all know that bathing a medium/large sized dog results in water...everywhere.)
cleaned off my little table
got my mod podge out
along with all of the other stuff to make these....

I am freakin' excited to make these. not just because they are cute but because it is one step closer to decorations for our new rooms (that by the way are almost all dry walled :D:D) in our addition. which is also one step closer to me buying paint and painting. these are going to make their appearance at our wedding as well. and yes...there is a reason there is only 2 letters....we will have the same initials (with the exception of our middle names) and yes the initials also coincide with the company :D
I know, I know
I. am. a. genius.
:D:D

I am off to make my letters. don't worry. I'll share how I made 'em :)
I got my inspiration here.
I think that may be my fav new blog of things that I want to make :D:D

happy friday & weekend!

Foto Friday & Afternoon Ramblings | Sheboygan Wedding & Portrait Photographer

the end of another week.
this week felt slow and fast all at once.
I'm not sure how that works.
let's take this morning for example...
my alarm rings at 432 am
yes. 432. am.
it rings then so that I know I have at least 2 snoozes :)
when I do get up, Tucker goes outside.
and I put in contacts, brush my hair, and my teeth.
in that order.
always.
well, during the week anyway.
then I grab my lunch and let Tucker in.
and feed him a carrot.
because good doggie mommies give their puppies healthy snacks.
then I get dressed.
by this time its about 525...depending on the amount of dawdling I do.
yes, I am up, dressed, and out the door in about 35 minutes.
I give Mike a kiss goodbye and I am out the door and driving to work.
and I yawn. a bunch. because...its early and I want nothing more than to crawl back into dreamland for another  hour.
but this morning...although I followed that very same schedule of events...something was different.
not the dog, or contacts, or hair, or teeth, or lunch, or leaving.
the sky. it was glowing. glowing because the sun was coming up :)
this, dear friends, is one of my FAVORITE times of the year.
its the time of year when getting up at 432 am really isn't so bad because I can watch the sun creep up over the eastern horizon on my way into work.
I get to drive into the sun light.
its like I'm leaving winter behind.
this weekend Daylight Savings Time begins.
when I was younger I dreaded this because lets face it, who REALLY wants to lose an hour of sleep?!
but the older I get the more I appreciate this time of year.
because it means spring,
and warm weather,
and flip flops,
and rainy days,
and green grass,
and pretty flowers,
and birds,
and fresh cut grass and hay,
and the smell of farms (yes...I happen to love the smell of farms:) )
and longer days with more sun,
and oh-so-in-love brides and grooms.
all of these things that make my job as a photographer so much more fun because I get to have the sun, the grass, the flowers, the oh-so-in-love couples in front of my camera.

spring is also easter time.
and easter candy time.
and jelly bean time.
I love starburst jelly beans.
with the exception of the yellow ones. not so much a fan.:)

Carlie & Rory | Engaged | Sheboygan Wedding & Portrait Photographer

a couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting with Carlie and Rory. these two are getting married in September. and I am SO excited to be able to be a part of their day :) snow had conveniently (or maybe in-conveniently) had fallen leaving a fresh blanket of white. and a swift wind had moved in making it a little chilly outside. ok. so it was a lot chilly outside. but, after spending some time outside we were able to go inside and warm up at Route 43, the local Harley shop and Paradigm, a local coffee shop.
Carlie & Rory met in college. they both lived on the same side of campus, had the same group of friends, ate at the same lunch and dinner tables, and both have a love for motorcycles. they also love adventure and good conversation. although these two didn't think they were cute until I told them...I'm pretty sure they are one of the cutest couples I have photographed :) they are so fun and willing to try anything that I asked. it was so much fun to spend a couple hours getting to know both of them!
we started out the day outside....
in the freezing cold. no really, it. was. cold.
but, no matter how cold it was Carlie and Rory were super trooppers.
I love the dipping photo above. when I asked them if they wanted to do a dip photo Rory said "we haven't really practiced it much, but we'll give it a shot." I hate to say this guys...but it looks like your naturals to me! next we ventured around some nearby apartment buildings.
on their "all about us" questionnaire Carlie wrote down "Rory thinks we do better things together than we do apart" I couldn't agree more...no matter what you two think...you are stinkin' cute together!
this ring shot is one of my favorites...so much emotion :)
we found these toys in the lobby of the apartment building. we snuck inside to warm up a little and get some ring detail shots.
in the little alcove in the front office it was warm enough to take off our coats and warm up a bit
then it was time to head back outside. it was great to not have to give much instruction to these two as to what to do during the shoot. after heading outside they saw the red pillars and hopped up!

this is another one of my favorite shots....

after being out in the cold we decided to head on over to Route 43, the local Harley dealer. it was one of those "do you think they will let us in with a camera to take photos" "I dunno...the worst they will say is no" kind of situations. lucky for us we were able to take as many photos as we wanted. they we also willing to let us take whatever bike we wanted outside! we ended up not taking any outside because it was pretty cold and being inside meant being warm and not bundled in jackets :)

the yellow bike was totally my favorite :)

after Route 43 we headed over to Paradigm, a local coffee shop in Sheboygan. Paradigm is such a fun place. it has some awesome windows that have fabulous lighting for one. two, the shop is big into supporting local artists in the area. so there is always art and live music. and the decor. love it. Paradigm is big into being green. so, they are huge supporters of bicycles. and, they have a bunch of bicycles all over the shop. they were kind enough to let us use some of these as props :)

the photo above...yea....I just love it.
I also love a bride who loves her ring :) so fun to do so many different ring shots!
oooooh Paradigm...thank you, thank you, thank you for having doors. everywhere. :) seriously...the doors add such a unique feeling to the photos.
and one last photo...enjoying some coffee together

Carlie & Rory, thank you SO much for letting me be a part of your plans :) I am so excited to be part of your wedding this fall! I hope you love your photos as much as I do!

Foto Friday | Sheboygan Wedding & Portrait Photographer

well, another week has come to an end. another busy week. I think I am seeing a trend here....hmmm :)

I just want to say...the invites. done. yesssssss. SO glad to have them done. the first bunch was sent out on Wednesday and the next bunch will go out in another week and a half. yes. we totally did the...lets-send-out-two-rounds-of-invites-to-see-who-is-actually-coming. hahaha. don't hate :)

so not only did we finish the invites last weekend but I was also able to fit in an engagement shoot before it snowed. again. for the record...I'm pretty sure it snowed over 2 feet in one week.

so this week's foto friday is a sneak peak of that session :)
yes, we incorporated a Harley into the session :D LOVE.IT.

so excited to blog the rest of this session! stay tuned for more!

xoxo
