Rae & Justin | Engaged | Sheboygan Falls Lifestyle & Portrait Photographer

happy weekend!!

its a gorgeous June weekend this weekend,
well...maybe minus the morning rain :)  ,
and a busy one at that!
this weekend is the annual 4-H Horse & Pony Project's June Horse Show.
Saturday, after lunch Mike & I went out to Road America to watch some of the June Sprints,
some of our friends came be over for some yummy dinner and a bonfire,
AND I had a fabulous new client meeting!

whew!
what a great weekend!!

today though,
I would like to introduce you to Rae & Justin

these two WON a free engagement session from me at the Lasting Impressions Bridal Fair at the Weil center this past January.

which is kind of funny...because...well I have known Rae for a looooooooooooooong time.
yes. that many o's :)
so I had to laugh when we picked her name out of all the people that entered.

she is a little older than my little sister...and we ALL rode horses and were in the same 4-H group together!

anyway, Rae & Justin are getting married next April.
so once the weather FINALLY decided to be nice we were able to get together for their engagement session!

these two are adorable together,
they are full of laughter,
and love country music.

take a look!
they surprised me with the first location, although I should have put 2 and 2 together I thought we would be taking photos at the park that is behind the fire department in Sheboygan Falls....
BUT
we took photos AT the fire department in Falls!!
Justin is a first responder and is on the Sheboygan Falls Fire Department.
and this is the actual engine that he rides/drives in when there is an emergency!
how stinkin' cool is that?!
so he really wanted to incorporate that into their photos...
 love these photos!
I also love it when a couple has things that they want to incorporate into their photos!
it really makes the whole session more about them and who they are
after taking the fire truck out, we headed over to Blue Harbor in Sheboygan for some photos by Lake Michigan.
normally the lake can be kind of 'meh' in photos. you know...just kind of there...not really looking pretty or whatever. but, wow, the lake that day was gorgeous! certainly one perk to living near the lake is how pretty it can be!!
this next photo is where Justin proposed to Rae...cue group 'awwwww' :)
as Rae told me 'Justin wanted to take a walk, which he never wants to do that, AND it was FREEZING cold out!' but the proposal was perfect and of course she said yes :)

looooooove the sun in this next photo :D

after that we headed to my favvvvvvvorite street in Sheboygan. the brick road. aaaahhh yes. I think I could shoot here alllll day long.
plus the old buildings that are along the brick road...love them too
next we stopped out at another location along Lake Michigan

 another favorite of mine :D

and one last one along some abandoned railroad tracks in Shebogyan Falls!

Rae & Justin, it was a blast hanging out with you!! I had a great time capturing your laughs and smiles. I can't wait until your big day!

The "A" Family | De Pere Lifestyle Portrait & Wedding Photographer

happy almost Wednesday!

a couple weeks ago (the same night as Kari & Jason's engagement photo shoot) at Fonferek Glenn Park, I got the pleasure of taking photos for the "A" family. About a month ago they welcomed their first baby girl into the world!

So, we got together to take some photos :)

their baby is such a cutie pie...and such a good baby! she only cried for about 2.5 seconds in the beginning of the shoot! she just hung out with us and made some pretty cute scrunchy-baby-faces.

check out my favorites from the session:

 thinking.....

these are some of my favorites :) such a happy mamma!
these are my fav's as well!! proud papa!!
all smiles :) I like smiley babies
already giving mamma and papa the look!

and one last...probably another of my favorites!!

"A" family, thank you for being such a fun easy going family!! you were a blast to work with!! enjoy your little girl & your photos!!

Liz & Jesse | Married | Elkhart Lake, Wi Lifestyle Wedding & Portrait Photographer

may 28th was a gorgeous spring/almost-summer day.
the perfect day for Jesse & Liz to get married.
these two are just adorable together.

this wedding was a ton of fun because I graduated high school with Jesse AND I got to second shoot with Kim...another one of my hs classmates.

while Kim was with the girls shooting, I got to hang out with the guys.
something that I don't get to do very often.
once the guys were ready we took a pontoon boat across Elkhart Lake to the landing dock and walked a little ways to the CUTEST little chapel in Sheboygan County.
or, at least that is what I thought when I saw it!
ahhhh-dorable!

they were surrounded by about 30 of their closest family members & friends for the ceremony.
they had the ceremony taped so that once they got back to the Stop Inn Tavern (yes we were back at Siebken's! :D love that place!!) the guests that didn't attend the ceremony could watch it play back on the tv.

Jesse & Liz both love the outdoors, so their day was filled with homemade and outdoors-y things. stuff like homemade bouquets and table settings, hand crafted boutineers, and recycled paper stock!

here are some of my favorite images from the day...

on the way to the ceremony....
rowdy crowd I know ;)
yes, we walked in the middle of the road :)
and yes...that is the adorable little church!
 the beautiful bride
 the rings
this is the super cute little back building where the girls hid out until the ceremony started
the guys got pocket watches as a gift from Jesse...so needless to say...we always knew what time it was!
 waiting and walking

 sometimes...jumping photos don't go as planned :)
this is one of my absolute favorites of the day...I just love how relaxed and happy Liz looks!
another favvvvvvvv-orite. I just love the backdrop that Elkhart Lake gives!

mmmmm....caaaaakkkkeeee :) I am normally not that big of a fan of carrot cake just because it is either really gross or really good....this cake....OMG...sooooooo gooooooddd
 the dining room at Siebken's
 the table settings
hammerschlagen  certainly an interesting game to watch.
bluegrass band! loved this so much! don't get me wrong I love having a dj, but the band just gave a whole new atmosphere to the reception!
 first dance :)

Jesse & Liz, thank you so much for letting me be part of your fabulous day!! I had a great time! I hope married life treats you well :)
